Ethyl acetate prices remained strong in July.

Ethyl acetate is a low-toxicity, fast-drying, broad-spectrum organic solvent and fragrance raw material, primarily used in five major fields: coatings and inks, adhesives, food flavorings, pharmaceutical extraction, and electronic cleaning. It is important to note that it is highly flammable and its vapors may cause dizziness; therefore, strict fire and explosion prevention measures and adequate ventilation are required for industrial use.

As of July 31, the average production price of ethyl acetate increased by RMB 193.33 per ton compared to the beginning of the month, representing an overall increase of 3.41%. Supply-side plant maintenance and downstream demand-driven purchasing resulted in a robust market transaction atmosphere, leading to a strong price increase for ethyl acetate.

Market Analysis: This month, the ethyl acetate market remained strong. On the supply side, some companies underwent maintenance shutdowns, reducing ethyl acetate operating rates. Companies maintained a positive outlook, leading to price increases. While downstream buyers primarily purchased on an as-needed basis, resulting in a relatively healthy trading atmosphere, strong raw material prices and rising acetic acid prices further boosted ethyl acetate prices. Market sentiment for ethyl acetate was optimistic, and the focus of ethyl acetate transactions shifted upwards throughout the month.

As of July 31, acetic acid prices had increased by 4.99% compared to the beginning of the month. On the supply side, concentrated maintenance shutdowns of acetic acid plants fueled market sentiment and led to a strong upward trend in acetic acid prices throughout the month. However, weak downstream demand limited the extent of further price increases, thus reducing the upward pressure on ethyl acetate. By the end of the month, ethyl acetate prices tended to stabilize.

Looking ahead, the resumption of maintenance at ethyl acetate plants is expected to increase supply, putting greater pressure on companies to reduce inventory. Meanwhile, the traditional off-season for downstream demand will result in insufficient support, leading to a bearish market sentiment. It is anticipated that ethyl acetate prices will remain weak and range-bound next month, with price fluctuations within a narrow range. Specific price movements will depend on changes in supply-side plant operations and downstream demand.
