In mid-September, the domestic maleic anhydride market fell slightly. As of September 21, the average market price of maleic anhydride produced by n-butane oxidation method fell by 0.22% compared with September 11.
On the supply side, maleic anhydride prices saw a slight decline in mid-September. Early auctions in Yantai were sluggish, leading to a continued decline in prices. Recently, some manufacturers have implemented sales restrictions, leading to some price increases for maleic anhydride manufacturers, but overall supplier prices remain stable. Binzhou Dayou Maleic Anhydride production has resumed. Currently, downstream unsaturated resin manufacturers are maintaining inventory to meet demand and are generally taking a wait-and-see approach. As of September 21st, the ex-factory price of maleic anhydride in Shandong Province was around 5,300 yuan/ton for solid maleic anhydride and 4,700 yuan/ton for liquid maleic anhydride.
Upstream: n-butane prices rose overall in mid-September, and as of September 21, Shandong prices were around 4,550 yuan/ton.
Downstream: Unsaturated resin prices are currently stable, with ample supply and moderate downstream transactions, providing limited support for unsaturated resins and a weak market outlook.
Unsaturated resin prices, the primary downstream component of maleic anhydride, are currently weak, leading to limited purchases. Maleic anhydride manufacturers are currently operating with limited sales, and the maleic anhydride market is expected to see a slight increase in the near term.
